MODERN RE.MIX

A contemporary homage to Martha Graham's iconic 1957 film "A Dancer's World" — reimagined by the dancers of today.

In the film, Graham reflects on what it means to be a dancer — "a divine normal," someone who reveals what the human body is capable of, after years of discipline and devotion. We honor her words and her legacy by embodying them through our own artistic voices.

The first part of the performance mirrors the structure of a modern dance class, presenting the distinctive Graham floorwork, spirals, and contractions that have shaped generations of dancers. But where Graham's dancers performed her own choreography, we offer something different — a contemporary interpretation that reconnects us with the roots of modern dance while speaking the physical language of our own time.

In Vienna, the Graham technique has become not only forgotten but almost unknown. Through this work, we wish to share its beauty — its honesty, clarity, and emotional depth — with a new audience.

We hope to remind viewers that dance, unlike a museum piece, cannot be preserved on a wall: it must live, breathe, and evolve on stage.

MODERN RE.MIX is both a tribute and a revival — a bridge between the past and the present, between discipline and freedom, between what was and what can still move us today.
